DIVORCE/ ENFORCEMENT OF FOREIGN JUDGMENT

To be enforceable by the consular services, any divorce judgment rendered by a foreign court must be endorsed by the competent court in Algeria.

To obtain this exequatur, one of the ex-spouses must send a request, through a lawyer in Algeria, to a court throughout the national territory.

The following documents, along with their translation into Arabic, must be attached to the application:

• The original of the judgment;
• The original of the document of service of judgment;
• The certificate of non-opposition, no appeal and no appeal in cassation.

A copy of the subpoena of the defaulting party in the event of default conviction.
